The job of Relief Bus Driver/Dispatcher is done for the purpose/s of developing route directions; confirming that route assignments are completed; dispatch duties; responds to parental and staff calls; transporting students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions; ensuring vehicle operation is in safe operating condition and ensuring safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from buses.
Responsibilities:
- Advises students and other passengers of appropriate behavior
- Assesses incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations
- Assists students and other passengers
- Attends meetings, trainings, etc.
- Cleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior
- Conducts emergency evacuation drills
- Confirms route assignments have been completed and drivers have returned from their routes
- Develops route directions for all routes
- Drives school bus/s
- Ensures sport shuttles are staffed for middle school athletics
- Fuels assigned vehicle (e.g. oil, water, fuel, etc.)
- Logs empty activity buses and logs keys when drivers return from routes
- Manages lost student searches for school staff
- Performs dispatch duties and dispatches mechanics, as needed, and coordinates coverage for other buses
- Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections (e.g. fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, etc.)
- Prepares documents and reports (e.g. field trips reports, incident reports, inspections records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, etc.)
- Reports observations and/or incidents (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.)
- Responds to inquiries (e.g. students, parents, other school personnel, etc.)
- Supervises students and other passengers during transit
- Assists other personnel, as may be required
Qualifications:
Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Alcohol and Drug Test, Pre-placement Physical Exam, Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance, Random Drug Testing
This is a 10 month School Year position only.
