Position Summary:

The primary duty of a school counselor is to ensure that students have access to the resources necessary for academic and social development. By utilizing leadership, advocacy and collaboration, school counselors promote student success, provide preventative services and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that address academic, career and social development for students.

 

1. Qualifications. The School Counselor shall hold at least a Master’s degree from an approved institution and hold an AZ Counselor Certificate. It is preferred that (s)he shall have at least three years of successful counseling experience. 

 

2. Line of Authority. The School Counselor shall be directly responsible to the Director of Learning Support. 

 

3. Performance Responsibilities. The School Counselor shall have performance responsibilities in the following areas:

 

Direct and Indirect Student Services

Planning and evaluation

 

Other Duties – Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as the Director of Learning Support, Superintendent, and Governing Board may assign from time to time.
