The job of Van Driver is done for the purpose of transporting students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions; ensuring vehicle operation is in safe operating condition; and ensuring safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from vans.
Essential Functions:
- Advises students and other passengers of appropriate behavior
- Assesses incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations
- Assists students and other passengers; attends meetings, trainings, etc.
- Cleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior; conducts emergency evacuation drills
- Drives school van/s
- Fuels assigned vehicle, (e.g. oil, water, fuel, etc.)
- Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections, (e.g. fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, etc.)
- Prepares documents and reports, (e.g. field trip reports, incident reports, inspections records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, etc.)
- Reports observations and/or incidents, (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.)
- Responds to inquires, (e.g. students, parents, other school personnel, etc.)
- Supervises students and other passengers during transit
- Assists other personnel as may be required
Qualifications:
- Experience desired
- Alcohol and Drug Test
- Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance
- Random Drug Testing
- Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English
25 - 40 hours depending on route for 10 months.
