Purpose
- Transporting special needs students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions
- Ensuring vehicle is in safe operating condition
- Ensuring safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from buses
Responsibilities
- Advises students and other passengers of appropriate behavior
- Assesses incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations
- Assists Bus Assistant, students and other passengers
- Attends meetings, trainings, etc.
- Cleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior
- Conducts emergency evacuation drills
- Drives school bus/s
- Fuels assigned vehicle, (e.g. oil, water, fuel, etc.)
- Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections, (e.g. fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, etc.)
- Prepares documents and reports, (e.g. field trip reports, incident reports, inspection records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, MIPS forms, etc.)
- Reports observations and/or incidents, (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, health, etc.)
- Responds to inquires, (e.g. students, parents, other school personnel, etc.)
- Supervises students and other passengers during transit
- Assists other personnel as may be required
Experience is desired. Full time with Benefits - 25-40 hrs. per week. $19.40 per hour - depending on experience; w/Certificate. The District trains new bus drivers.
Qualifications - Alcohol and Drug Test, Pre-placement Physical Exam, Criminal Justice fingerprint/background clearance, Random drug testing.
This is a 10 month School Year position only.
