The job of Vehicle Mechanic is done for the purpose/s of ensuring the availability of District vehicles and grounds equipment in safe operating condition including determining needed repairs and/or replacements; performing required repairs and preventative maintenance and providing written documentation of repairs to meet District, State, and Federal requirements.
Essential Functions
- Adjusts parts and/or components
- Diagnoses potential equipment malfunctions, e.g., school buses, shop vehicles, food service trucks, tractors, trenchers, forklifts, grounds equipment, etc.
- Maintains tools, equipment and shop area
- Monitors fuel storage
- Prepares documentation, e.g., records of repairs, maintenance logs, etc.
- Procures equipment, supplies and materials
- Repairs systems/components, etc.
- Replaces all defective parts; transports various items to schools, e.g., mowers, supplies, chairs, tables, etc.
- Assists other trades, as may be required, e.g., welding duties, etc.
Qualifications:
- Job related experience within specialized field is required.
- Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance.
- Ability to obtain Commercial Driver's License-Class B with passenger Endorsement.
- Air And Brake Endorsement.
- Random drug testing.
- Pre-placement Physical Exam.
- First Aid/CPR Certification within 4 months.
- Freon Recovery Recycling Certificate.
- Targeted job related education that meets organization's prerequisite requirements.
